I have celiac. It's tough, but its becoming more and more well known. Some common restaurants that have gluten free menus now include PF Changs, Outback Steakhouse, Cheeseburger in Paradise, and many other non chain places. Plus regular grocery stores have started carrying gluten free products (usually found in the organic section). Whole Foods and Wegman's also carry a ton of stuff. It's estimated that 1 in 133 people have it which is a huge number compared to other genetic conditions. For more info I recommend reading Living Gluten Free for Dummies or visiting glutenfreeforum.com which is a great community.

Fairly common, I don't have it, but know lots of people who do to various degrees - and its spelled Celiac disease.
