My children were just diagnosed with asthma and severe allergies. I was told that they can not have any pets with fur. They want a pet really bad. They are not interested in fish at all. They want something that they can play with. Any suggestions?

Depending on the kids' ages and their allergies, you could always try getting them a parakeet. They are pretty easily tamed, can become super friendly, learn tricks, be taught to talk, and don't have fur. We always played with ours, it was great.

The problem with all the so called "hypoallergenic" cats and dogs is that they still have the protein that is the allergic trigger, just in lesser amounts. No matter what the animal you want to get is, be sure to expose your children first, ideally introduce them to the pet a couple times to see if there is going to be a problem and where ever you decide to get the pet from be sure they have a return policy and state that your kids have severe allergies.

I understand how tough it can be for the kids, it broke my heart when I had to give up my rabbit when I was a kid because I was so allergic to her :(

Good luck!

There are several breeds of hairless and hypoallergenic cats and dogs. If you don't want them, you can get a turtle or a reptile like a lizard or nonvenomous snake(only if your kids are old ebough to know how to handle it), chamelion, etc. Naked mole rats are also good :)

Some breeds of dogs do not have fur like a portugese water dog (great personalities) or a poodle (nice size?)

dogs like Chinese crested, ummmm, Maltese, poodles, and some other dogs are hypo allergenic. there are hypo allergenic cats, but i cant think of what they are called. ummmm, if they don't fear them, try for a reptile. bearded dragons, iguanas, and nonvenomous snakes are also good.

good luck!!! peace peepz!!!
